Nxt Roadmap

Nxt is now a child chain of Ardor. Generation of new blocks and transactions on the Nxt blockchain stopped at block 6000000 on Jan 17, 2026,
and the Nxt child chain will be activated on the Ardor platform at block 4333333, expected on Feb 1, 2026.
Nxt software and source code continue to be available under the Jelurida Public License.

Nxt is an iconic project in the history of blockchain development. Launched as early as November 2013 it represents the first pure proof of stake blockchain ever deployed. Started by an anonymous developer who disappeared shortly thereafter, with a crowdsale that raised only a symbolic amount, the Nxt project formed a wonderful community around it, and gave birth to many successful follow-up projects, including our own Ardor platform.

After running for 12 years and forging 6000000 blocks, the Nxt blockchain was shut down on Jan 17, 2026, and the Nxt token was migrated to an Nxt child chain on the Ardor platform.
