Nxt v1.13.0 Released

The Nxt v1.13.0 release marks the start of Nxt’s proposed migration to a new Ardor child chain. This update introduces forgers’ voting on the migration process, now active on testnet only. A testnet hardfork is scheduled at block 5,700,000, expected around October 22, 2025. Upgraded nodes will begin generating version 4 blocks, signalling support for migration. If version 4 blocks prevail 1,440 blocks later, the migration will be approved, followed by a snapshot event one day after. If not, the migration will automatically be cancelled, and Nxt will continue with version 3 blocks. The Jelurida Public License has also been updated to reflect Jelurida Swiss SA as the copyright holder and clarify that, upon migration, the airdrop requirement will apply to Nxt’s future Ardor child chain tokens. The Future of NXT: Ensure Your Testnet Node Is Up to Date

After 12 years and over 5.8 million blocks, the pioneering Nxt blockchain is preparing for its next major evolution. Jelurida has officially proposed migrating Nxt into an Ardor child chain, ensuring its long-term sustainability within the Ardor multichain ecosystem. The migration will first be tested on testnet, allowing the community and node operators to participate and validate the process before it’s implemented on mainnet. If you operate a testnet node, make sure to update to the latest version to stay in sync with the upcoming migration phases. Watch the video to learn more. The announcement has also drawn international attention, with Chinese media outlet Defi Intelligence featuring detailed coverage of Nxt’s planned migration and its significance for the blockchain’s future.
