Blockchain Platform GiveSafely Aims to Protect Donations and Donor Data

Ihodl: Only one in five people highly trust charities according to the 2019 Donor Trust Report, and with 80.5% of BBB-accredited charities anticipating a fall in revenue in 2020, GiveSafely’s launch is timely. The platform uses a child-chain based on the Ardor multi-blockchain platform, and enables fast donations, in either crypto or fiat, directly to organizations such as Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, Save the Children, World Emergency Relief, RedRover and the Wild Animal Sanctuary. The only information saved on GiveSafely’s servers is usernames and the donor’s profile image – should they elect to use one.

From Peercoin And NXT To Algorand - A History Of Proof Of Stake

Benzinga: Nxt and Blackcoin - The Early Adopters. It wasn’t long before the concept of proof of stake caught on. Nxt was the first to implement a pure proof of stake platform, that still runs today under the management of Jelurida, which also operates the Ardor blockchain. Nxt was launched by anonymous software developer BCNext at the end of 2013. Nxt was swiftly followed by Blackcoin, which also chose to implement its own proof of stake blockchain following Peercoin’s proposal. Blackcoin went live in early 2014.

The Evolution of Proof of Stake – From Peercoin and NXT to Algorand

Bitcoinist: Clever as King and Nadal’s idea was, it was only partially implemented in Peercoin, which still relied on Proof of Work in tandem with PoS. It was not until the launch of Nxt in 2013 that PoS was fully tested in the wild. Developed by software company Jelurida, Nxt was the first pure Proof of Stake blockchain, and the template for subsequent PoS networks to copy. An open source blockchain written in Java, Nxt serves today as a payment network and dApp- launching hub, complete with private chains for business applications.

How governments are responding to the public's demand for more data transparency

Big Think: The Austrian government has recently turned to blockchain as a means of establishing transparent communications about the COVID-19 crisis, between authorities, institutions, and citizens. Communication specialist A-Trust has launched the QualiSig project, on Ignis, part of the Ardor blockchain platform. The project will use transparent, encrypted communications visible on the blockchain, and decentralized data storage to secure data against attacks. Citizens can control the use of their own data using qualified digital signatures. Alexander Pfeiffer, Danube University Krems researcher, and partner to A-Trust, has a high degree of confidence that blockchain can help to increase trust in governments.
